As I mentioned in an earlier post, we moved into a new house in 2020. The house is 14 years old and looks good on the outside but as you can imagine it needs some sprucing on the inside. So, we started off painting the kitchen cabinets and bought new appliances, but one other area that needs some work is the basement. Travis and I are going to finish it and make it his mancave.
So we started in August of 2020 beginning with what you see above. Step one was getting everything framed up including the ceilings. We forgot to get a pic of the room on the other side which had no framing or drywall.
Framing ain't easy, either! My husband and I are lucky to have family and friends (Big AJ, Lil AJ, Travis' twin brother Tracy, and my Dad) help us because we had no idea where to even start. Lots of angles, cuts, and measurements that I have zero interest in, so I let Travis and the crews handle that. But with their help, we were able to frame up the room on the other side, which isn't included in the photos above (we forgot to take pics of the one...smh) and the ceilings of the partially finished side pictured above.
The neighborhood cat, Frank, stop by to see what was happening. Say what's up to Frank! We don't know his real name we just call him that.
Once everything was framed, we could start hanging the drywall. I again, had no desire to participate so I left it to the guys to get that done. They did an awesome job! The bottom left is the completely unfinished room that's in the video above.
We also had a professional come in and finish hanging the drywall, applying the mud to cover holes, grooves and gaps and then sanding it down for a smooth finish. Up next, paint!
